Workshops: ICE-D:MEGAFLOODS
Purpose
Landforms associated with outburst flooding/mega floods (e.g., channeled scablands in the western US) can be good targets for cosmogenic exposure dating. Indeed, several studies in the western US and elsewhere have produced chronologic constraints on geologic events related to outburst flooding. As such, there should be a database to curate and store these data.
Initial meeting
Greg Balco and Joe Tulenko met with John Stone and Joel Gombiner at UW on April 15 2022 to discuss the creation of ICE-D Megafloods.
Greg introduced the concepts behind the database - the information various tables store and how each table is linked, etc.
There was discussion about the most relevant information that needs to be stored in the database per sample to 1) display properly on the web app and 2) calculate a simple exposure age (e.g., region, site, sample, _be10_al26_quartz, etc.).
